TAZEWELL/BLAND COUNTY (WVVA) -- Murder is considered a family affair, according to an indictment in Bland County.
David Allen Hayes, 45, of Tazewell went missing in late June. His body was later found in Bland County, and an autopsy ruled his death as a homicide.
The Bland County Sheriff's Office announced developments in the case on Monday.
Justin Michael Hackler, 25, now faces four charges: Murder in the 2nd degree, use of a firearm in a felony, conspiracy relating to the concealment of a dead body, and concealing a dead body.
Leslie Raquel Hackler, Justin's mother, was also indicted on the following charges: conspiracy relating to the concealment of a dead body, and concealing a dead body.
Leslie was taken into custody in Augusta, Georgia last month.
Initially, another family member was also charged in the case. Officials with the Bland County Sheriff's Office say charges against that individual were not presented to the Grand Jury.
These indictments are the result of a joint investigation by the Bland and Tazewell County Sheriff's Offices.
WVVA will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
