Contact tracing underway after COVID-positive individual rides Raleigh County school bus

RALEIGH COUNTY (WVVA) -- Contact tracing efforts are underway after an individual who rode a Raleigh County School bus tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a press release, the positive individual rode Bus 57 (Ridgeview/Independence Middle and High Schools). It is unclear if the individual is a student or employee.

The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department and Raleigh County Board of Education are working to identify any potential person(s) who may have had close contact with the individual. Any individual(s) who ride Bus 57 should quarantine and contact the Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department at 304-252-8531, ext. 0.

"If there is a chance that you, or your child, may have been exposed and the health department can trace that activity to you, you will be notified," the release states. "Notifications will be made while maintaining confidentiality when a close contact is confirmed and quarantine is necessary."
