Car chase during manhunt ends with helicopter pursuit

WYTHE CO., Va. (WVVA) - Yesterday the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Wytheville Police Department and Virginia State Police with a manhunt near Pepsi and Lovers Lane in a cornfield.

The Sheriff’s Office was then notified that the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was entering Wythe County in pursuit of a speeding, white Kia on Fort Chiswell Road.

Wythe County deputies and State Police set up at Exit 80 in Fort Chiswell to assist Carroll County.

The white Kia then side swiped a Ford pickup truck when trying to get between the truck and bridge at the red light at exit 80.

The vehicle then continued onto Max Meadows Road and headed toward the manhunt location.

A Virginia State Police helicopter was already in the area due to the manhunt.

The helicopter diverted to the pursuit on Max Meadows Road.

The white Kia came to stop after the helicopter began to follow and gave up in front of Granite Christian Academy.

The Kia was surrounded by an estimated 25 police officers due to coming to the area where an ongoing police operation was being conducted.

The driver, Amber Marie Bryant of West Palm Beach, Florida, is being charged by The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office with the following charges:

Felony Elude Police

Felony Hit and Run Accident

Driving Suspended
