Shoplifting, Hit & Run at Mercer Mall Under Investigation by Mercer County Sheriff’s Office

Bluefield W. Va. (WVVA)- The Mercer County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a pair of incidents reported at the same time at the Mercer Mall Tuesday evening.

Mercer County Sheriff's Office has confirmed with WVVA that deputies were called to the Mercer Mall just before 6 p.m. Mercer County Dispatch reports that the call was for a shoplifting incident in the Belk Department store and a hit and run in the mall parking lot.

It is unknown at this time if the two are connected. The vehicle that was hit sustained heavy damage and the driver was taken to the hospital. There's no official word on the condition of the hit & run victim. No information has been released about the shoplifting.
