(WVVA) - In an emergency meeting late Thursday night, the Fayette County School Board added athletic safety guidelines, in addition to those already laid out by the WVSSAC and West Virginia Department of Education.
If students return to school, after being out of the building the previous week, athletic competition will not be held until Thursday of the returning week.
For example, if the county was to land in the "gold" rating on a Saturday, teams would not be permitted to compete until the next Thursday, five days later.
Practices will be allowed to take place earlier in the week, as defined by the WVSSAC. All other WVSSAC and WVDE guidelines for extracurriculars and athletics will be followed.
You can find those here.
WVVA will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
