West Virginia names Principal of Year

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) A southern West Virginia principal recently received a big honor.

Alicia Lett, the Principal of Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School recently received the state's 'Principal of the Year' award. She was also honored as a National Distinguished Principal and will go on to compete in the national competition for excellence in education administration.

Lett was nominated by the staff at her school.

"It's just really hard to believe honestly. I work with so many awesome people here. I have the best staff. In Raleigh County, our principals are the cream of the crop and so to be apart of it feels like this isn't just an individual award, it's really truly a school and county award."

In an interview with WVVA News on Thursday, Lett said she feels like she and the school accomplished this award because of their teachers' desire for success among their students.
