Mercer County revises school reentry plan

MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) -- The Mercer County Board of Education is revising its school reentry plan.

According to a press release, if Mercer County is designated as green, yellow or gold on the WVDE's Saturday School Alert System update:

  • Elementary students will follow Blended Model A; students attend school five days a week
  • Middle and high schools students will follow Blended Model B; 50% of students attend each day.
  • Unless: both the Incidence and Positivity Rate are below 3.0 for two weeks - then, middle and high school students will also attend five days a week. If either number goes above 3.0, middle and high school students will go back to the 50% schedule the following week.

If Mercer County goes Orange on a Saturday update, students will resort to remote learning the following week. If a county is designated red at any time, students resort to remote learning the following day.
