MERCER COUNTY, (WVVA)- More than 1700 special education students in Mercer County will be using 100 new, and updated Supersonic Windows tablets.
Thanks to Independence University out of Salt Lake City, Utah, local students in Mercer County will be able to continue their education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tablets will help these students learn both in-person at school and with the virtual option.
"Anything that we can do to aid the learning of the students warms my heart. The students learn best by technology, that's the new world and that's how they are comfortable. For example, one of the students says he's probably more comfortable with using a laptop or tablet than I am and we want this to be a fulfilling experience that will enhance their education and their long lifetime opportunities," Director of Special Education for Mercer County Schools, Lynn Bayle said.
The tablets will be distributed to students ranging from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade within 26 different schools in Mercer County.
