Monroe County Schools move to remote learning

MONROE COUNTY (WVVA) -- Students in Monroe County are being sent home due to COVID-19 concerns.

According to the Monroe County Board of Education, all schools are transitioning to remote learning starting Friday (October 16th). Remote instruction will continue through October 23rd, with students returning in-person on October 26th.

"This decision is being made in conjunction with local health officials due to the increased cases in the county and not having enough substitutes to cover classes," Board leaders wrote in a statement Thursday. Read the full statement below.
