TAZEWELL, Va. (WVVA) - Shudder Lake at Lincolnshire Park is open every Friday and Saturday through Oct. 31st.
The haunted attraction opened this year for the first time. With COVID-19 shutting down many local haunted houses, the town wanted to utilize its outdoor facility.
"We noticed a lot of area haunted houses were closing down," Amanda Hoops, Tazewell Today Executive Director, said. "And we have this wonderful outdoor venue, so we thought, why not try something unique and fun."
The haunted attraction is a quarter-mile trail that goes partially around the lake and partially on a wooded trail.
"It's completely terrifying," Hoops said. "We have clowns, we have chainsaw monsters, we have a clown in a canoe... lots of fun and really, really scary things."
Those who attend are asked to wear a mask and social distance. Hand sanitizing stations are provided throughout.
Tickets are sold from 8pm through 11pm. The cost of admittance is $10 per person, but the money will be invested back into the community.
"All proceed go to Tazewell Today and will go to further promote the community of Tazewell," Hoops said. "To help pay for our events that we have on Main Street and also throughout town in 2021."
