BECKLEY, WVa. (WVVA) Seniors stand to take a double hit this winter with both flu season and the pandemic.

To help on the flu fight, Raleigh General Hospital hosted a drive-through clinic on Saturday.

Member of its Seniors Friends organization were invited to get a flu shot without even having to step out of the car.

The hospital's Infection Preventionist, Nancy Edwards, explained why the flu shot is especially important this year.

"It's following the CDC guidance. That's one of their plans for battling COVID-19. It has added protection and the symptoms of both are so similar."

Volunteers with Bluefield State College also assisted with the clinic.
