BLUEFIELD, W. Va. (WVVA) - Bluefield State College officially introduced its new president on Saturday. Robin Capehart took the official oath as the 14th president.
Capehart has been serving as president since January of 2019, but the college held an official ceremony where Capehart presented his plans for the future.
The ceremony took place at Scott Street Baptist Church, a location significant to the school's heritage.
"I think it was really important to have it in this church, where there was actually a president of this college who served as a pastor of this church," Capehart said. "There is such a historical significance to that, and this is the 125th year, which is a milestone in the history of the institution."
Capehart said he hopes to take Bluefield State from a good college to a great university.
