Section of Clinch River back to normal after months of advisory

LEBANON, Va. (WVVA) - In Russell County, the Clinch River advisory set by The Virginia Department of Health because of possible sewage overflow into the river has been lifted.

During the advisory period set back in May 2020, residents and their pets were advised to avoid using the body of water for recreational purposes and for consuming the river's fish.

The affected area was from the campground in the Town of Cleveland to the public boat launch ramp at Carterton.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality reports the damage has been repaired.
