BECKLEY W. VA. (WVVA) - Changes are coming to the Raleigh County Veteran's Museum in the new year, including a new board.
Volunteers with the museum presented the key to Ron Hedrick, who is serving as the new president of the museum.
Hedrick said one of his main goals for the position is to upgrade the museum and prepare to move into the new building. He hopes this will lead to more foot traffic at the museum.
"Bringing a modern more up to date museum to the area will be just you know, a wonderful thing for people to go do and see," said Hedrick. "[It will] get them out of the house or if they're at a convention at the convention center or some other activity and they've got time to kill."
Sherrie Hunter, A new board member, shared a similar hope that upgrades will make it more of a tourist attraction.
"This is going to be a destination," said Hunter. "You've got to go to the Raleigh County Veteran's museum and see what they have, and to be able to just sustain what our veterans have done, it just puts a smile on my heart."
Along with Hunter, other board members were welcomed today. The Board is made up of: Ron Hedrick - President, Glenn Smith - Vice President, Jonathon Grose - Treasurer, Mack Scaggs - Secretary.
The executive board members are: Jay Quesenberry, Charles Hock, Sherrie Hunter, and Tom Cochran.
