Bluefield College earns first win of 2021, Lady Rams stumble late

BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) - The Rams pick up their first win of the new year over Union, 94-73. The Bluefield College women battled hard for three quarters, before coming up short in the fourth, 61-48.

Stanley Christian put up and near double-double for BC, scoring 26 points and adding nine rebounds. Jermiah Jenkins also finished with 22 points and six assists.

Union's Markelle Turner turned in a game-high 27 points.

The Lady Rams went toe-to-toe with a skilled Union squad for three quarters. Corey Mullins and company trailed by just four entering the final frame.

But, after scoring 14 points in each of the first three quarters, BC managed just six in the last ten minutes.

Emily Breeding led the home team with 16 points, as Kylie Meadows chipped in nine points and 14 rebounds.

Brooke Hammonds flirted with a triple-double for Union, scoring 21 points, snatching 12 rebounds and dishing out eight assists.

Bluefield College returns to the court on Thursday at St. Andrews University.
