Virginia Tech defends Cassell against Duke

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WVVA) - The Hokies bested the Blue Devils in a Top-20 showdown on Tuesday night, 74-67, to earn another ACC victory.

Mike Young's squad could hardly miss in the first half. Virginia Tech poured in 46 points in the first 20 minutes, while hitting 19-of-30 shots. They led 46-34 at the break.

But, the Blue Devils stormed back in the second half. A Matthew Hurt's three-pointer with 13:12 to play chopped the lead down to one. However, the Hokies never trailed in this game.

Tyrece Radford scored 18 points and gobbled up 12 rebounds. Keve Aluma also pitched in 17 points and seven rebounds.

Jeremy Roach scored a game-high 22 points for Duke in the loss.

No. 20 Virginia Tech is now 4-1 in the ACC and 8-1 in Blacksburg. They'll play next at Wake Forest on Sunday evening.
