(BLUEFIELD, WV)- We are remembering retired Lt. Joseph Pullano.

He served the citizens of Bluefield for nearly 30 years at the Bluefield, West Virginia Police Department.

He was also the acting Chief for several months. Two fellow officers who worked with Pullano shared with WVVA some of their memories.

"When a close friend like Joe Pullano passes it tugs at your heart. There's a lifelong friend since I've had since 1975, and now he's no longer with us. The citizens of Bluefield lost a great man. He's somebody that set an example for others to follow, he's a man to be looked up to," Friend of Pullano, Steve Murphy said.

"Jim never met a stranger. He loved to talk to people, especially from out of the area, and found out about them and what they did. He's just really somebody you would love to sit down and talk to," Friend of Pullano, Tom Helton said.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, at Mercer Funeral Home at 2 pm.
The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.
Officer Pullano was 81.
