Salvation Army Thrift Store in Beckley closes

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) The Salvation Army of Beckley has announced their family store on South Fayette Street closed on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

"The decision to close was not made lightly but after much review, it seems to be the most responsible choice. Over the past year, sales have been declining to the point where it can no longer afford to stay open," said Major Ronald Mott.

According to a release by the corps, "the Salvation Army Beckley Family Store has struggled to overcome significant obstacles in recent years with the store's operations. The impact of COVID-19 meant the store was unable to reach enough sales to cover daily operating expenses and meet the daily objectives of the corps.

While the Salvation Army Family Store will no longer accept donations of clothing, household goods, or furniture, donations are always welcome at the corps' location at 312 South Fayette Street in Beckley.
