Suspect involved in domestic abuse case arrested in Bluefield, WV

BLUEFIELD, W, Va.(WVVA) - On January 17th, 2021 Mercer County 911 dispatched a call of a female that had been taken hostage by gunpoint by her boyfriend.

Upon arrival to her residence, the Bluefield P.D. spoke with family members who stated that she was not home and that they weren’t sure if she had been taken hostage but that she had been physically abused most of the weekend.

Investigators were given information about the possible whereabouts of the suspect in the Bluefield area and passed that information along to the Bluefield P.D.

Soon, the vehicle was located in Bluefield, WV as was the suspect, Jermaine Montgomery and the female victim who was found safe.

Montgomery was detained upon arrival.

The victim denied having been kidnapped by the suspect but did state that she had been physically abused by him several times over the weekend.

She had obvious injuries that was consistent with her claim.

Montgomery was then advised he was under arrest and attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.

He was then transported to the Mercer County Sheriffs Department.

His charges include strangulation, domestic battery and fleeing.
