(TAZEWELL COUNTY)- A COVID-19 patient, that WVVA reported about a few weeks ago is finally being discharged.
Mrs. Fay Short was discharged from Clinch Valley Medical Center Friday, after being in the hospital since October, 26th.
When Short came down with COVID-19 her family didn't expect her to make it. She was admitted to the ICU at Clinch Valley and was placed on a ventilator.
Short had developed COVID pneumonia. The prognosis was grim. She was in vegetative state, unable to speak or eat, in fact, she couldn't perform any of the most basic activities of daily living.
"I want to thank my doctor for not giving up on me. Thank you for being the friends, thank you for being the family. I want to thank everyone of you, and I will pray for each and everyone. Y'all have a good life, and I will return. (How does it feel to be going home?) It's scary, after being here so long. Not know what to anticipate, but I will be fine," Short said.
And as Mrs. Fay Short left, many of her caretakers at Clinch Valley say her recovery is miraculous and she is a true inspiration.
