BECKLEY, W. Va. (WVVA) - A warming center has been brought to Raleigh County through a collaboration with the United Way of Southern West Virginia, and multiple agencies.
The center will function if the temperatures dip below 15 degrees Fahrenheit, including wind chills, starting at 8 p.m.
The Beckley Warming Center will be held at the Soldier’s Memorial Theater building, located at 200 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV.
Volunteers are still needed and can contact United Way Executive Director Trena Dacal to schedule training and available shifts at firstname.lastname@example.org
Shifts will begin at 8:00 p.m. through midnight, midnight – 4:00 a.m., and 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. on designated nights.
If the weather conditions do not qualify for the center to open, the Raleigh County Community Action Emergency Housing Center is always open and located at 103 South Eisenhower Drive.
They not only provide shelter, but three meals, a snack and emergency case management.
