W.Va. - (WVVA) Training opportunities are right around the corner for those of you wanting to become foster parents in the mountain state.

Pressley Ridge Foster Care of West Virginia is offering free virtual foster parent training sessions Mondays and Wednesdays beginning March 22nd 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. via zoom.

There will also be another session starting March 23rd on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. via zoom as well.

But that isn't the first step to becoming a foster parent.

In order to foster a child you must: Be financially stable, pass a CPS background check, pass an FBI and state background check, and have a safe environment for the child(ren).

The program director of the organization said the need for young adult fostering is high.

"We need parents for teenagers, that's a big push that we have in the state, is to find homes for teenagers. Because, there are lots of teens in shelter that we can't find homes for," said program director, Jennifer Thompson.
