Justice earns RSC Player of the Year, five Golden Bears pick up conference honors

(WVVA) - Two WVU Tech women's basketball players and three men's players earned individual recognition from the River States Conference on Monday.

Senior guard, Brittney Justice, was named RSC Player of the Year. The Summers County graduate averaged 15.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Twin sister, Whittney, also received a First Team All-Conference nod, averaging 12.6 points per game on the year.

For the men, senior forward Tamon Scruggs landed on the First Team. He tallied 15.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 2020-21.

Senior Andreas Jonsson and sophomore Darrin Martin figured into the Second Team lineup for their efforts.

Both Golden Bears squads will host University of Rio Grande on Tuesday in the River State Conference Championship game. The women tip-off at 5:15 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
