Two arrested following Brandywine fire

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVVA) - The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office has arrested two men following the burning of a house in the Brandywine-Fort Seybert area in February.

Jamie Eugen Morgan of Upper Tract was arrested Feb. 26, and Jason Thomas Sawyers of Fort Seybert was arrested earlier in the week.

Both men are being charged with two counts of first-degree arson, three counts of third-degree arson and six other felony charges that involved arson.

The West Virginia State Police assisted with the investigations and arrests.

On Jan. 30, a fire began at 6423 Sweedlin Valley Road in Brandywine. The property was destroyed, and phone, power and internet lines were damaged. The damage left many in the area with an outage.

No injuries were reported from the fire.

Sawyers is being held at Potomac Highland Regional Jail on bond. Morgan's custody status is still pending.
