PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) While many folks in the area were in Downtown Princeton, at the Lemon Drop in Bluefield, or sitting at home on New Year’s Eve; one family was at the hospital welcoming the newest member to their family.

Tshonia Blankenship and her husband Cody say they originally went to the hospital to treat her for food poisoning. But while being treated, Emma-Lee decided to make an early appearance…four weeks early. Tshonia says during the c-section, her doctors and nurses were excited to be delivering a New Year’s baby.

Emma-Lee weighed in at 7 lbs and 1 oz. She is expected to leave the hospital Friday or Saturday with her new family.
