(BECKLEY, WV) April is “National Donate Life” month. In recognition, the Raleigh General Hospital held a “CORE” flag raising ceremony with Center for Organ Recovery and Education members.

Two participants in the ceremony included a man named Bruce Turner, who donated one of his kidneys.Turner said he was inspired to donate by an article he read about making organ donations.

“It’s not about me but I’m happy to tell my story about it and help other people realize that they can help make a living donation if they want to,” he said. “And sign up if they want to be an organ donor.”

Turner said he keeps in contact with his recipient and is glad that he could help someone in need. If you would like to become a donor, express your wishes with your family.
