Raleigh County Community Action hosts summer feeding program

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) Raleigh County Community Action (RCCA) is making sure no child goes hungry in Beckley this Summer.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, the organization will be handing out free meals to school-aged children at Beckley’s East Park near Broadway Avenue.

The program is part of a statewide initiative to help prevent the Summer slump, explained Exec. Dir. Kim Canterbury in an interview with WVVA News on Tuesday.

"When you have food, you’re able to think about other things you need to do. These kids are able to just be here and enjoy life…that’s just great.

There are no income requirements, adds Canterbury, but she does ask that kids stay and eat their lunch on the premise. The RCCA will be offering the free meals every Tuesday and Thursday at the East Park location from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
