TAZEWELL, VA (WVVA) The Tazewell County School Board will be discussing the possible futures of two elementary schools.

According to Tazewell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Stacey, this is discussion is in it’s very early stages. He says North Tazewell and Tazewell Elementary Schools could be turned into primary and intermediate schools. This would only happen if the school board decides to move forward with that decision.

Stacy also says it will be considered because of the success the Bluefield schools. In Bluefield, VA, there are Dudley Primary and Graham Intermediate.

Leslie Horn, parent of student attending North Tazewell, says there are good and bad sides to this.

“I can see that it would be a little easier for the kids that are testing,” said Horn. She says the downside would be class sizes.

There will be a school board meeting on Monday, June 10th to discuss the schools.

WVVA will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates when they become available.
