Residents react to Fayetteville shooting arrest

FAYETTE COUNTY (WVVA) Residents in Fayette County are glad a man accused of firing shots during a party is off the streets.

According to Fayetteville Police, 18-year-old Kevin Legrand turned himself on Friday.

Legrand is charged with 12 counts of wanton endangerment, after he allegedly fired shots during a party at a local Airbnb on Fayette Avenue.

Law enforcement held a news conference Monday to discuss the incident. They promised residents type of situation would not happen again in the popular tourist area.

For one resident of 30 years, he’s just glad that the suspect is finally in jail.

“I don’t like it all. You hear it all the time, but I’m glad they got him off the streets. It used to be safer than this, but it could have been worse than what it was. I mean it’s just a good thing they caught him at the right time,” Jimmy Blankenship said.

Legrand is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail under a $100,000 bond.
