Lewisburg overwhelmingly elects first black Mayor

(Lewisburg) Elections results are in for Lewisburg, and the Citizen’s Party swept with 63 percent of total votes cast.

Beverly White will be the new Mayor of Lewisburg come July 1. She earned 65 percent of the votes cast for mayor. White served on the City Council for the last 16 years. She was the first African-American woman to be elected to City Council. White was born and raise in Lewisburg.

Edward John was elected to a four-year term on the City Council.

Sarah Elkins was elected to a four-year term on the City Council.

Arron Seams was elected to a two-year term on the City Council.

Current Mayor John Manchester did not seek a fifth four-year term.
