BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA)- The Bluefield Regional Medical Center held a ‘Veterans Day Tribute,’ to recognize the men and women who’ve served.

The hospital recognized all veterans attending the event, including employees that served, while giving honor to those currently serving.

“Freedom is not free,” said Tim Bess, Executive Vice President of Operations for The Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

The tribute included a flag folding ceremony presented by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post 9 of Bluefield.

The Guest speakers for the event included City Manager Dane Rideout, retired Colonel, U.S. Army, and Alfred Wicks, retired Sergeant, U.S. Army.

Wicks is President of the Fallen Warriors, a motorcycle group made up veterans across the region.

The group presented their traveling memorial wall during the event, showing the names of veterans that have served and passed on, representing 14 counties across Southwest Virginia, including Mercer County.
