MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVVA) – A special needs teacher in Mercer County has been charged with child abuse resulting in injury.

Marlene Robinson is accused of physically abusing two students at Bluewell Elementary. The students are about five-years-old.

“Child abuse resulting in injury, it’s a felony charge, said Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler. “The grand jury met this week and returned a three-count incitement.”

It is not known if Robinson is still employed by the Mercer County Board of Education. Sitler stresses that Robinson is innocent until proven guilty.

Her first court appearance is scheduled for October 22.
