Collection day coming to Tazewell County this weekend

TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVVA) Spring is in full bloom and that means spring cleaning is in full swing.

To help with those efforts, a collection event is coming to Tazewell County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, May 18th.

It’s a collection of household hazardous waste, tire recycling and medication.

Tires from businesses will not be accepted. Limit of eight tires per resident.

Acceptable Items for Hazardous Household Waste

• Paint, polishes & varnishes
• Paint related materials
• Turpentine
• Aerosol cans
• Adhesives
• Motor oil
• Antifreeze
• Fuel additives
• Household Cleaners
• Herbicides/Insecticides

Items that will not be accepted:

• Commercial / Industrial waste
• 55 gallon drums of material
• Radioactive material
• Explosives
• Bullets
• Gasoline
• Batteries
• Mercury
• Pesticides
• Electronics
• Transmission fluid
• Pool chemicals
• Fluorescent Light Bulbs
• Automotive Batteries
• Small Batteries
