Escaped inmate from Welch found in Ohio


The man wanted after escaping from Steven’s Correctional facility in Mcdowell County has been apprehended.

Charles Wentz was arrested in Lawrence County Ohio after stealing from a Family Dollar. Witnesses noticed the thief fled the scene in a red and silver vehicle with a West Virginia License Plate.

Lawrence County Deputies found Wentz at a local residence, and he attempted to flea from police into a wooded area. Deputies deployed a K-9 unit and was able to located and apprehend Wentz a short time later.

McDowell County State Police say the investigation is still ongoing,  and no further details are being released at this time.
