From dog-fighting to crime-fighting, a pit bull’s story

HONAKER, VA – A pit bull, saved from a dog-fighting ring in Canada, will now serve at a K-9 in Honaker, Virginia.

Dallas is quickly learning his job at the department. He’s the town’s first K-9 since 1987. The three-year-old crime-fighter was trained by a rescue group out of Florida.

“It was not our intention to ever have a pit bull as a K-9, said Honaker Police Chief Brandon Cassell. “That was not our first pick, but Dallas is the kind of dog that kind of grows on you.”
