WANTED: 2 for string of thefts at Walmart stores

TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVVA) Law enforcement in Tazewell County are looking for two people believed to be responsible for multiple thefts at Walmart stores in North Carolina and Virginia.

In our region, the suspects have targeted stores in Lebanon, Grundy and Pounding Mill. They mainly steal computer hard drives and Apple TV’s. The thieves are in and out of the stores in less than seven minutes.

According to Major Harold Heatley with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, the man uses an “magnetic alpha key that is needed to open the keeper boxes.” He then removes the item and gives it to his female accomplice who hides it in inside a bag.

The pair may be driving a black Ford Fusion or pewter Chevy Trailblazer with North Carolina or Tennessee plates.

Walmart Shoplifting Suspects

Suspects are described as a male and female team, the female has shoulder length black hair that may be straightened or frizzy and may be of African American decent, she is described as being slight of build and short (5’2”-5’4”) and always has a pink bag under her left shoulder. The male is described as possibly being of African American decent with a short haircut may be wearing a toboggan/beanie and glasses, he will be wearing open toed black Nike Slide Sandals, and he is of medium build and average height (6’-6’3”).

On February 20, 2018, these two suspects entered the Walmart in Jonesville, Va. and shoplifted $1500.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives. On this same day they entered Walmart in Pounding Mill stealing $1200.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives, Walmart in Grundy, Va. stealing $1500.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives, Walmart in Lebanon, Va. stealing $1500.00 in Apple TV’s and Hard drives. Totaling $5,700 in multiple jurisdictions and states on the same day.

On August 30, 2018, the same two suspects enter Walmart in West Jefferson, NC stealing $1000.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives. During this incident a West Jefferson Police Officer attempted to apprehend these suspects, the suspects fled striking the police officers vehicle as they were fleeing the parking lot. Driving a black Ford Fusion.

November 25, 2018, the same two suspects return to in Walmart in Jonesville, Va stealing $1500.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives.

November 26, 2018, same two suspects return to Walmart in Pounding Mill, Va. Stealing $800.00 in hard drives the same day these same suspects enter Walmart in Norton, Va. Stealing $1628.00 in Apple TV’s and hard drives.

The couple enter these stores and the male suspect has a magnetic alpha key that is needed to open the keeper boxes. Once the male removes item from the keeper box the female conceals the item inside of her pink bag.

These suspects may be driving a black Ford Fusion or a pewter Chevy Trailblazer with North Carolina or Tennessee tags.

These two suspects are generally in and out of the store in less than 5 to 7 minutes.  Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to contact Lt. Chuck McNerlin at (276)988-0645/0704, you can remain anonymous.
