Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc. is helping families in need of financial assistance, file their taxes this tax season!

For the 13th year, the “Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program” will be doing free tax prep for low-to-moderate income families.

The income requirement for this free service is families or individuals with incomes totaling $55,000 or less.

The volunteers are IRS certified and will begin certifying and preparing tax returns in about 2 weeks.

VITA estimates they save between $200-$250 per tax return and they’re helping to save in prep fees for their clients as well!

“It was about $200,000 we saved on tax prep fees last year,” said Rick Mallory, Director of the VITA program. “That’s money our tax payers don’t have to spend.”

Free income tax prep will begin on January 28th and end on April 13th.

You must contact Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc. to make an appointment for this free tax service.
