TAZEWELL, VA (WVVA) A restaurant in the town of Tazewell is working with high school students to give back to the community. Italian Village of Tazewell is usually closed on Sunday’s but is changing their schedule every second Sunday.

Students from Tazewell High School are also helping to give away food to those in need. Haley Davidson, employee at Italian Village of Tazewell, says within the first hour, they delivered 45 meals. The initial response to this plan was overwhelming according to Davidson.

“We had about 245 shares on it (Facebook) and everybody was excited that we were giving back to the community,” said Davidson.

William Weeks says the idea just came to him and other employees one day at work.

“We’re a really popular place here and we just want to give back,” said Weeks.

The restaurant will be giving meals away every second Sunday of each month. Weeks says he hopes the numbers keep increasing throughout the year.
