(Alderson) One-hundred pounds of corned beef will be served at an Alderson Main Street fundraiser this Saint Patrick’s day in Alderson.
It’s the second annual Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. The menu will feature corned beef and cabbage. Also Irish soda bread, potatoes and all kinds of desserts, we’re told.
Alderson Main Street has been responsible for the restoration of the Old Gulf Station and the historic 1896 C&O Depot; the establishment of Alumni Park as well as the construction of the gazebo and the landscaping; and the non-profit sponsors the Strawberry Festival as well as the Grand Illumination at Christmas.
Rich Lohmeyer will be cooking the corned beef and cabbage. He said, “It’s Irish. Everybody likes corned beef and cabbage probably once a year or so. But it’s good for our community because it brings people together and they all come out on Friday night this year and they’ll all come out and enjoy the evening.”
A donation for ten dollars for adults and five dollars for children will get you some of that dinner. It will be held at the Alderson Community Center.
