UPDATE: Jury returns “not guilty verdict” in attempted murder case

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVVA) A Mercer County man facing charges of attempted murder and malicious wounding has been found not guilty.

Jurors found Stacy Burrell not guilty on all counts in the two-day trial. The verdict was reached Friday afternoon.

Burrell was facing charges in connection to 2017 incident involving a woman believed to have been hit over the head with a blunt object. The woman recovered from her injuries.

Circuit Court Judge Mark Wills presided over the trial.
