UPDATE: Woman killed by train in McDowell County identified

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WVVA) Trooper have identified a woman who was struck and killed by a train in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

The “Jane Doe” was identified through a fingerprint search of the NCIC database, according to Sgt. R. A. Daniel with the West Virginia State Police. Sgt. Daniel said her name will not be released to the public until they can notify next of kin.

The Northfolk Southern train was traveling westbound at the time the woman was hit.

IAEGER, WV (WVVA) A woman who was apparently walking on railroad tracks in Iaeger, WV was struck and killed by a train in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

According to Sgt. R. A. Daniel with the West Virginia State Police, it happened at 3:30 a.m. in the downtown area of Iaeger. A Norfolk Southern train engine unit was traveling westbound at the time.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the victim.

The victim was wearing blue jeans and a black, “AERO” hoodie with white and blue stripes on the sleeves.
