Witnesses describe Lewisburg shooting as accidental

(Lewisburg) Witnesses describe the shooting of a Greenbrier East High School student at Dorie Miller Park on Friday as “accidental”.

According to the criminal complaint, several people including the witness and the suspect were sitting in a parked car at Dorie Miller Park on Friday evening. Edward Alexander Smith-Allen was pointing a gun at people in the car. Witnesses say he was “playing” with the gun. One witness said the pointing of the gun made them so uncomfortable they left the car. The gun was loaded. While pointing the gun at the victim Edward Alexander Smith-Allen pulled the trigger. All of the witnesses in the car described the shooting as “accidental”.

According to Lewisburg Police Chief Chris Teubert, Edward Alexander Smith-Allen turned himself in to Sgt. D.B. Eggleston at the Lewisburg Police Department on Saturday at 6:30 PM. He was arraigned in the Greenbrier County Magistrate Court for the warrant of Wanton Endangerment with a Firearm. He was released on a $5,000 bond.

The victim, Alaisia Smith, is currently on life support. A Go Fund Me for the victim’s family has been started. Here is a link. On Facebook some had raised questions regarding the validity of the Go Fund Me account. WVVA has verified these funds will go directly to Alaisia’s parents.
