School officially in session for Raleigh County

(RALEIGH COUNTY) One of the biggest schools in the county, and in the state belongs to Woodrow Wilson High School with more than 1,300 students. Wednesday was the first day back for the school district.

“It feels good. It’s exciting. It’s new, every year is new, we’re really happy to be back,” Principal, Rockey Powell said.

Principal Powell said this year he wants to focus on some changes, including proper attire for class.

“Work on the kids dress code, vaping is big, so those are some things we’d like to take care off and do away with,” he revealed.

There were a few obstacles dealing with the curriculum, and student schedules on the first day, but despite that everything else was smooth sailing.

“It’s been a good day. We had some bumps in the road, but they will smooth out, and we’ll make minor changes, and hopefully tomorrow will be better than today,” Powell added.
