Troopers continue search for fleeing suspect

RALEIGH COUNTY (WVVA) — Troopers with the West Virginia State Police are searching for a suspect who fled on foot.

Around 12:30 A.M. Tuesday, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on I-77 North near mile marker 49.

The odor of marijuana prompted a vehicle search and the suspect, later identified as Richard Ferguson, was handcuffed behind his back.

While the search was being conducted, Ferguson fled on foot.

Inside the vehicle were multiple debit and credit cards, a credit card skimmer, a laptop and six cell phones that were seized.

Mr. Ferguson is wanted out of Georgia and Indiana for possession of marijuana and possession of credit cards and credit card skimmer.

Anyone with information on the location of Richard Ferguson should notify WVSP Parkways 304-926-1908 or call 911.
