(Ronceverte) At Jardin in Ronceverte, the flowers aren’t the only things blooming.

Jardin is run by Gateway Industries, a non-profit that prepares people with special needs for the workforce. Gateway Industries revitalized the community garden in Ronceverte Island Park. It is now used as a nursery to teach people with special needs new skills.

Rebecca Meriwether works at Gateway Industries. She said, “Everybody helps everybody. So, before you know it two or three weeks down the road, oh they’re blooming they want to come. You know, ‘hi how are you today?’ it’s just a big thrill to see the change.”

Jardin is open Thursday through Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Right now the nursery is selling mini pumpkins, bouquets, mums, dried flowers and other gifts.
