Body found last month identified as West Virginia man

CROSS LANES, W.Va. (AP) — Officials have identified the remains of a West Virginia man found last month by a property owner doing yard work behind a home.

The Kanawha County sheriff’s department identified the man as 22-year-old Bodie Walter Beier, who was from Huntington.

WCHS-TV reports the remains found on Oct. 26 in Cross Lanes were severely decomposed and personal belongings were found nearby.

Police estimated the body had been at the site for at least two months.

Beier’s family has been contacted. The cause of death is under investigation.
