West Virginia basketball’s bumpy season got bumpier on Monday night. Senior forward Esa Ahmad and junior forward Wesley Harris were released from the team for “a violation of athletic department policies”, according to a university statement.
Ahmad started all but one game for the Mountaineers in 2018-19 and averaged 12 points per game. He was also shooting more than 46 percent from the field. Harris contributed nearly eight points and five rebounds a night for WVU.
The team will travel to take on nationally-ranked Kansas without them on Saturday.
