Coppinger Tournament semifinals are set

Eight baseball teams across the Two Virginias fought for a spot in the Coppinger Tournament semifinals on Wednesday night.

The evening began with a matchup between Bluefield and Richlands. The Beavers scored two in the first frame, but it was all Blue Tornado after that. They would go on to win easily, 12-2.

In the second game from Bowen Field, Summers County and Tazewell faced off. Samuel Wykle did some damage on the mound for the Bobcats early. However, the Bulldogs offense was relentless in a 12-2 victory.

Woodrow Wilson was looking for a its second win in as many days at Hunnicutt Field. The Flying Eagles had things square in the third inning, but the Tigers tacked on some late runs to prevail 9-5.

With Graham earning a 12-2 win over James Monroe in the final quarterfinal contest, here is the semifinal schedule for Thursday, April 11th:

at Bowen Field

Princeton vs. Graham @ 5 p.m.

Tazewell vs. Richlands @ 7:30 p.m.
