It was a big day for a number of student-athletes at Woodrow Wilson High School on Thursday. Five seniors made their college decisions official.

Bryce Knapp will play volleyball for Fairmont State and hopes to major in Biology.

Mikah Alleyne is set to continue her career as a sprinter at Marshall University. She plans to major in psychology.

Chris Barbera will also run at the next level. The 2017 cross country state champion is headed to the University of Charleston, where he intends to major in computer science.

Laken Ball will further her hoops career at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

Finally, Danny Bickey is headed to Randolph College to play basketball and study communications.

While all five are headed in different directions, they will never forget the support they’ve received from the Beckley community.

“Honestly a dream come true,” Bickey said. “Growing up sixth through eighth grade, coming here and watching all the Beckley teams play and then it’s finally your turn — you’re the one everyone is coming to watch. It just makes my heart skip a beat.”

“Not only Woodrow, but my club teams,” Knapp added. “I’ve had great teammates and coaches throughout the last four years that have definitely helped me along the way. I’m very thankful for that.”
