The school year is coming to a close, but there are still a number of high school student-athletes deciding on their college destinations.

On Tuesday afternoon, James Monroe’s McKinley Mann did just that. The 6-10 senior will keep close to home and join Todd May and Concord men’s basketball in the fall. The process to become a Mountain Lion was a long one, but Mann is certain that Athens is where he belongs.

“[The recruiting process] was kinda slow at the start, then it sped up a little bit,” he admitted. “Towards the end it slowed back down and once Concord gave me my official offer, I knew that’s where I wanted to be — needed to be. I hope to provide for the team and do a good job down there.”

McKinley will be following in his uncle Kelly’s footsteps at CU. Kelly was a standout guard for the Mountain Lions and was a 2006 Athletics Hall of Fame inductee.
